LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 330-290 BC. Nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 7.59 g, 12 h). Head of Demeter to left, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. META Barley ear with leaf to left; above leaf, griffin springing right; below leaf, ΛY. HN Italy 1589. Johnston Class C, 6.2. An attractive piece with lovely golden toning on the obverse. Some pitting and roughness, otherwise, good very fine.
